GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A 5-year-old boy died after he was thrown from a vehicle Monday at the intersection of Highway 69 and Union Grove Road in Guntersville, according to Alabama State Troopers.

The single-vehicle wreck happened at 12:15 p.m. Troopers say Chaysen Garner, 5, of Guntersville was critically injured when the 2003 Toyota Sequoia in which he was a passenger left Alabama 69 and struck a guardrail.  He was ejected from the vehicle.

Chaysen was transported to Huntsville Hospital, where he died from his injuries. The driver of the vehicle, Chasity Leann Garner, 29, also of Guntersville, was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Another passenger in the vehicle was not injured.

There is no word yet on what caused the crash. Alabama State Troopers are investigating.
