LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Lauderdale County EMA Director George Grabryan confirms there have been two injuries due to the severe weather on Thursday evening.

Grabryan said a child, believed to be 8 years old, and the mother were injured with lacerations to their bodies.

Both child and mother were taken to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence.

Winds produced by this storm system reached speeds in excess of 60 mph, knocking down trees and utility poles, among other damage.
