HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The Huntsville-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame inducted 10 new members on Monday, April 14. The group also recognized local sports journalists with Special Achievement honors.
Longtime WHNT News 19 news anchor Steve Johnson was honored. Prior to doing news, Steve covered local sports for 20+ years in Huntsville.
Other Special Achievement Awards were presented to Harold Bugg, formerly of WHNT-TV and now a radio talk show host; Rick Davis, a former broadcaster and newspaper reporter; Gus Hergert, who worked for several national outlets before covering local sports in Huntsville, and Bob Labbe, who has spent 40 years in the local media in both television and print.
